Game 7 was a faceoff between the Knights and the Sharks that solidified a rivalry that's been building. The Knights started out a minute 58 into the game with a Colin Miller hooking call to put the Sharks on a early power play. The Knights PK held the Sharks to no shots. 19 seconds after the Knights came through on the PK McNabb was called for a weak crosscheck to put the Sharks right back on the power play. The Knight's PK and MAF came through in a team effort to kill off the penalty. With just over 10minutes into the 1st William Karlsson scored the first goal on a nice little chip-in goal assisted by Reilly Smith and Marchessault. The Knights went on their first PP of the game but momentum was cut short by Tuch with an interference on Braun. It was weak call as Tuch was getting back on sides a barely bumped Braun. The Sharks took their time with the puck on the 4 on 4 to get to their power play. The Knights PK came through again. The Period ended 1-0 Knights.
The second period rolled on back and forth until just over 6 minutes in Reaves would get 2 for tripping Martin Jones out of the crease. The Knights PK came through for the 4th time in the night. at the 10 minute mark of the 2nd Cody Eakin came through with a goal assisted by his defensemen Theodore and McNabb to put the Knights up 2-0. The goal came from what looked to be a high stick but was reviewed ruled a good goal by Toronto. The Knights held the lead into the 3rd.
The Knights going into the 3rd got an early goal 3 minutes and 36 seconds into the period. The goal came from Pacioretty assisted by Mark Stone. At 9 minutes and 13 seconds into the 3rd period on the faceoff Cody Eakin was called for a major for cross checking Pavelski and given a 10 minute misconduct. Cody Eakins cross checking was not a vicious hit by any means but Pavelski lost his balance and got tangled up with Stastny. Pavelski fell and hit his head on the ice were he laid motionless on the ice for while. The trainers came out to get him off the ice and he left a puddle of blood on the ice. Don Van Massenhoven the series supervisor released a statement on the penalty stating "The Referees called a crosschecking penalty for infraction that caused a significant injury. In their judgment, the infraction and it's results merited a major penalty" The penalty was the deciding moment of the game as the Sharks went on the 5 minute major MAF was a perfect 25 for 25 on his saves for the night. The Sharks went on to score 4 goals. The first goal came from Couture assisted Hertl and Labanc. The 2nd goal came immediately after making it 2 goals in in 3 shots. the 2nd goal was scored by Hertl for his 2nd point of the game and assisted by Labanc (2) and E. Karlsson. The 3rd goal came from Couture (2) and assisted by Burns and Labanc (3). The 4th came just under 30 seconds later by Labanc for his 4th point of the night and his goal was assisted by Meier. All momentum was lost for the Knights. With 3 minutes and 41 seconds left in the period the Sharks Labanc was called for hooking. The Knights pulled MAF at the end of their power play. The Knights Marchessault scored an unbelievable goal on the 6 on 5 with 47 seconds left to take the game into overtime. His goal was assisted by Smith and Stone both getting their 2nd assist of the game. The game went to OT and went back and forth and in a good overtime played by both team and Goodrow caught McNabb off guard getting around him for the goal assisted by E. Karlsson (2) and Sorensen.
