DEADLINE IN VEGAS 02/25/19

Anyone heard any new hockey news lately? Anything happen over the last few days? I dunno, seems kinda quiet around here! Ha!!! I kid I kid. In case anyone has been living on the moon this week, and you haven’t heard; the Knights picked up Mark Stone & Tobias Lindberg yesterday.  We sent Erik Brannstrom, Oscar Lindberg, and a 2nd round pick to Ottowa. This looks like a pretty great trade for Vegas. Let’s dig a little deeper, yeah?
Mark Stone is one of the top proven forwards in the NHL. He would have gone into this offseason as an Unrestricted Free agent and The Senators, having such a terrible season, really needed to make some changes. It’s infinitely better to get something for your best guy, than to lose him for nothing. So really, this trade looks good for both teams. Luck was a lady for Vegas this year as it was a buyers’ market.
GM GM has already stated that he was not interested in giving away the farm for a rental, so Stone’s presence in Las Vegas means that he’ll sign with us for a few years to come. It is rumored that Stone will be signing an 8 year 76 million dollar contract that should be put together on March 1st. This makes Stone VGK’s highest paid player.
Losing Brannstrom is a bit of an upset, as he was pretty much killing it in the AHL. He was traded before getting a chance to crack the NHL. So, how he shapes up in the show remains to be seen. Erik Brannstrom’s offensive production from the defensive position is definitely something to watch and be hopeful about. He is seems to be player that you would want to have on a struggling power play unit. It would be hard to see him come in and play against some of the best players in the world being smaller you’re your average pro hockey player. He weighs in at just 170lbs and 5'10" tall.  Battles around the net to keep the lanes clear for the Flower, could present a problem for the smaller-statured Brannstromm.  He definitely is a player with tons of potential but we can’t pay the bills with potential, more will be revealed from Brannstromm, and I am excited to see how he shakes out.
Hopefully with Oscar Lindberg going into Ottawa he will be looking at some quality playing time and he’ll be able to rack up some points before his contract is up this year. In 98 game for VGK only produced 13 goals, and 10 assists.
The Knights definitely won in this trade by giving up a player that has not played a game in the NHL and a player that lacks offensive production. VGK can hopefully get back to their winning ways with a player like Stone. With 19 games left in the season Stone will give the Knights a boost in offensive production and hopefully gain the spark they need to become a team that can compete for the Cup this coming playoff.

Mark Stone of the Ottawa Senator played his 1st NHL game in 2012; it was a playoff game against the Rangers and he finished the game with an assist. Fun irrelevant fact I loved to learn after looking into this guy more. In his last 4 seasons he has managed to put up 60+ points in the last 3 out of 4 seasons not including this year. His best year in the NHL to date is definitely upon us now.  He has 28 goals on the season which has beat out his 14-15 season high of 26 and he’s only 3 points away from beating out his career-high 64 point season all together. Mark Stone is and has proven to be a top 30 player as a forward in the NHL this year and the years before. This guy is a true gem, he also leads the league in takeaways!

The Lindberg switch continues with Tobias Lindberg landing in Chicago (Wolves) and Oscar to the Sens. Tobias Lindberg was traded over to the Vegas Golden Knights before the start of last season. VGK on 10/6/17 received Tobias Lindberg and a 2018 6th round (which would be used to pick Defenseman Peter Diliberatore) in exchange for Calvin Pickard. Lindberg was immediately sent down to the AHL Chicago Wolves. Last year on the 23rd of February, Lindberg was traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins for arguably the toughest man in the NHL, Ryan Reaves. After this trade the Pens loaned Tobias to the Wolves so he could finish out his season with the AHL Wolves. Tobias had his best AHL season to date with 64 games played and 23 points (10 goals & 13 apples). He would be traded again the following season on Dec 5th to Ottawa. In turn being traded back to the Vegas Golden Knights. Tobias may not be much more than a prospect filling space in the minors right now but, he has been involved with players that Vegas seems to love.
Stone was welcomed to Vegas quite warmly when he arrived at McCarran Monday night. We could definitely use some excitement in the Fortress, and he might be just the push that our boys need to bust this slump.

FULL DRAFT FOR THE RAIDERS

The Raiders with the 4th overall pick drafted Clemson's DE Clelin Ferrell a player projected to be a middle first round pick. The Raider had the least amount of sacks in the league this last year. He is consisted a high character guy. He was red shirted his freshman year in college due to a torn ACL in high school. His 3 years in college he did not miss a game and had 27 sacks. Last year he tallied up 11.5 sacks during the National Championship run for Clemson. This may not be what Raiders fans want at the number 4 pick BUT this may be what the Raiders need a good piece to help with sacks and a high character guy to collect the big pay check for a high first round pick. He shows no quit and has a good work ethic in college and a strong family with a military background. This type of behavior can be a contagious for a locker room in the NFL. He was number #2 on the Raiders draft board 2nd to only Nick Bosa. The Raiders with the 24th pick select running back Josh Jacobs form...

Traded a 7th pick for a early fourth round pick.  THE 8th PICK IN THE 2nd ROUND CB TRAYVON MULLEN The Raiders add to their defensive backfield with the 40th overall pick in the 2019 draft with Trayvon Mullen. GAME 7 END GAME FOR THE KNIGHTS

Game 7 was a faceoff between the Knights and the Sharks that solidified a rivalry that's been building.  The Knights started out a minute 58 into the game with a Colin Miller hooking call to put the Sharks on a early power play. The Knights PK held the Sharks to no shots. 19 seconds after the Knights came through on the PK McNabb was called for a weak crosscheck to put the Sharks right back on the power play. The Knight's PK and MAF came through in a team effort to kill off the penalty. With just over 10minutes into the 1st William Karlsson scored the first goal on a nice little chip-in goal assisted by Reilly Smith and Marchessault. The Knights went on their first PP of the game but momentum was cut short by Tuch with an interference on Braun. It was weak call as Tuch was getting back on sides a barely bumped Braun. The Sharks took their time with the puck on the 4 on 4 to get to their power play. The Knights PK came through again. The Period ended 1-0 Knights. The sec...
