JETS FLYBY IN VEGAS

The Golden Knights vs the Jets. This will be the final meeting of these two teams. The Knights will be looking to avoid the season series sweep. The Jets have beaten the Knights out right in both games this year. Out scoring the Knights 10 to 4 but were they as dominant as the the scores might suggest? We think not!

So in a quick breakdown of the game in January. The Knights lost to the Jets in Winnipeg 4 to 1. The Knights absolutely crushed the Jets in shots on goal. The Knights put 44 shots on net as opposed to the Jets 27. The Jets were definitely the more physical team in this game. The Knights went 0 for 6 on the power play while killing off 2 of Winnipeg's. Both teams would come away in the same in the giveaway department. The Jets killed the Knights with 15 takeaways and to the Knights 4. Overall the Knights didn't take advantage of their PP opportunities and putting up bad shots on goal only coming away with 1 goal that game. The positive to this game is that the Knights held this team to only 2 goals and a total of 25 shots on goal with such bad puck possession. The net to shots would be empty net goals making the game look lopsided.

We witnessed a similar situation for game 2. In Vegas on the Friday "Knight" before the trade deadline Vegas faced off with Winnipeg to come away as losers again by another 3 goal deficit but this time the score was 6 to 3. Which is a positive? The Jets came out hot with 2 goals to get a good lead in the game. The Knights evened things up by the middle of the second period by playing a strong game. Things took a turn for the worse with a penalty towards the end of the 2nd period, with 1 minute and 9 seconds left in the period Reilly Smith was called for hooking. The Jets Patrik Laine ended his 15 game goal drought by putting one in 38 seconds into the power play leaving only 31 seconds left in period 2. The Jets didn't quit and put the biscuit in the basket one more time before the end of the 2nd.  This one minute and 9 seconds would be the momentum shift... kind of . The Knights retaliated 8 seconds into the 3rd with a goal. Then the Knights got right into the business of giving up all momentum with penalty after penalty throughout the rest of the game which would lead to a PP goal to put them ahead by 2 that would be followed by an empty netter that would make the game look lopsided again.

The Jets are the last team to beat Vegas before the Stone Age and when they come back to Vegas they will have hell to pay. The Jets have been struggling but are still leading the Central Division. They finally put together a 4 game winning streak. The last 3 plus game winning streak ended February 2nd. The Jets are starting to turn it on at a time when it matters most. The streak started with teams like Boston and Calgary followed by Los Angeles and Anaheim. The Jets will be finishing their back to back road trip game in Vegas.

The Knights ARE the hottest team in the NHL with a  9-1 record over their last 10 games. No other team has a better record in their last ten games. The Knights were killed with penalties in both games played against the Jets. The Jets might not have capitalized on any of the power plays in game one but those penalties killed precious offensive momentum. The Knights finished up a game with the Sharks where the Knights took a total 6 penalties and that was keeping their cool during the game. The Knights will need to play a well disciplined game if they expect to avoid being swept by the Jets.  Puck possession has not been an issue since the last time the Knights faced the Jets and I would expect it to remain that way.

Fun fact: Eakin, Stone, & Reaves are all from Winnipeg. Eakin and Stone played together before the minors.

FULL DRAFT FOR THE RAIDERS

The Raiders with the 4th overall pick drafted Clemson's DE Clelin Ferrell a player projected to be a middle first round pick. The Raider had the least amount of sacks in the league this last year. He is consisted a high character guy. He was red shirted his freshman year in college due to a torn ACL in high school. His 3 years in college he did not miss a game and had 27 sacks. Last year he tallied up 11.5 sacks during the National Championship run for Clemson. This may not be what Raiders fans want at the number 4 pick BUT this may be what the Raiders need a good piece to help with sacks and a high character guy to collect the big pay check for a high first round pick. He shows no quit and has a good work ethic in college and a strong family with a military background. This type of behavior can be a contagious for a locker room in the NFL. He was number #2 on the Raiders draft board 2nd to only Nick Bosa. The Raiders with the 24th pick select running back Josh Jacobs form...

GAME 7 END GAME FOR THE KNIGHTS

Game 7 was a faceoff between the Knights and the Sharks that solidified a rivalry that's been building.  The Knights started out a minute 58 into the game with a Colin Miller hooking call to put the Sharks on a early power play. The Knights PK held the Sharks to no shots. 19 seconds after the Knights came through on the PK McNabb was called for a weak crosscheck to put the Sharks right back on the power play. The Knight's PK and MAF came through in a team effort to kill off the penalty. With just over 10minutes into the 1st William Karlsson scored the first goal on a nice little chip-in goal assisted by Reilly Smith and Marchessault. The Knights went on their first PP of the game but momentum was cut short by Tuch with an interference on Braun. It was weak call as Tuch was getting back on sides a barely bumped Braun. The Sharks took their time with the puck on the 4 on 4 to get to their power play. The Knights PK came through again. The Period ended 1-0 Knights. The sec...
