KNIGHTS HIT BY THE AVALANCHE

The Knights came into Colorado looking for 1 point to clinch a playoff spot. Gallant made some key changes to the line up looking for a spark. Nosek played with Stastny and Tuch and Stone was lined up with his Winnipeg buddy Cody Eakin. Bellemare is back, helping to get that utility back together. On defense Theodore replaced Nick Holden.

The Avalanche came out in the first with all the momentum in this one killing off an early penalty taken by Derick Brassard. The Knights didn't get one shot on goal during the PP.  Pauly Walnuts was called for high sticking on Sam Girard. With 17 seconds left on the power play for the Avs; Nathan MacKinnon scored a goal. 10 minutes and 3 seconds into the period, Braden McNabb got the Knights 2nd shot on goal. The Knights had a combined 7 shots that were ether blocked or just missed the goal. The period ended with the Avs in complete control of the game. The knights had a total of 7 SOG to the Avs 12. The Avs had an amazing 9 blocked shots to the Knights 1.

Both teams came for a physical 2nd period. The Knights got a couple of early shots on goal grinding to get back in the game but 7 minutes and 18 seconds into the period, the Avs piled onto the lead making it 3-0. Just after the 10 minute mark ,Jonathan Marchessault's temper would reached a boiling point as he threw down the gloves to get in a couple of good punches on Sven Andrighetto. Both of them would catch 2 minors for the cross checking and roughing.  Marchys fight gave the Knights a sparked a much-needed momentum shift, and just before the 11 minute mark, Paul Stastny put the Knights on the board with an assist by Jon Merrill and Alex Tuch. After Marchy served his time in the sin bin, he was linked back up with his line mates. Reilly Smith caught a rebound off a Marchy shot to put the puck in the back of the net. Smith with the goal, Marchy and Karlsson were credited with the assist, making it a one goal game. The Knights did get away with stealing all the momentum in this period. The Avs Gabriel Bourque came through with a goal to get the Avs back to a two goal lead, and making the second period a wash. Bourque's goal was assisted by Nikita Zadorov and Nathan MacKinnon.

The Knights did not get a shot on goal on another power play. No team could get a shot on goal until Mark Stone at exactly 5 minutes into the period. 11 minutes and 45 seconds into the 3rd, Deryk Engelland took 2 minutes for interference. A really bad time for Vegas to take a penalty if they expect to get back into the game. With 3 minutes and 23 seconds left in the game, the Knights Alex Tuch put the biscuit in the basket. This was the 20th goal of the season and Tuch's 2nd point of the night, getting the Knights within one and giving the Knights a little bit of hope in the final minutes. The Knights with an empty net had a nail biting possession in the last minute and a half getting a couple great chances on goal. The Avs got a penalty for holding in the last 7 seconds giving the Knights a 6 on 4 but the Knights would not have enough time in this one to get the point.

The Knights had some good spurts and 36 shots on goal. They had 10 takeaways and only 3 giveaways. The Knights blew another game as the opposing team had a boat load of blocked shots. Not trying to down play the Avs defensive play, but this block-shot business is a trend we'd like to see go out of style. Red Wings 15, Blues 18, and Avs 18 blocked shots against the Knights. I could go farther back but I think you get the picture. If the Knights are looking to get back to their winning ways on Friday they are going to have to stop listening to the fan in the stands that likes to yell "SHOOT IT" every time they enter the offensive zone and work together as a team to put together some quality shots.

3 STARS OF THE GAME
1st STAR: Tyson Barrie 1 Goal 2 Assists
2nd STAR: Nathan MacKinnon 1 Goal 1 Assist
3rd STAR: Alex Tuch 1 Goal 1 Assist

FULL DRAFT FOR THE RAIDERS

The Raiders with the 4th overall pick drafted Clemson's DE Clelin Ferrell a player projected to be a middle first round pick. The Raider had the least amount of sacks in the league this last year. He is consisted a high character guy. He was red shirted his freshman year in college due to a torn ACL in high school. His 3 years in college he did not miss a game and had 27 sacks. Last year he tallied up 11.5 sacks during the National Championship run for Clemson. This may not be what Raiders fans want at the number 4 pick BUT this may be what the Raiders need a good piece to help with sacks and a high character guy to collect the big pay check for a high first round pick. He shows no quit and has a good work ethic in college and a strong family with a military background. This type of behavior can be a contagious for a locker room in the NFL. He was number #2 on the Raiders draft board 2nd to only Nick Bosa. The Raiders with the 24th pick select running back Josh Jacobs form...
