Back Home for Saint Patrick's Day!

The Vegas Golden Knights will be hosting Conner McDavid and the Oilers for the 2019 Saint Paddy's day game. McDavid is finishing up his 3rd straight 100 point season. He joined an elite class of players to have multiple 100 point seasons by the age of 22. He joins The Great One Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Dale Hawerchuk and Sidney Crosby. He is the 19th player in history to record three 100 point seasons in a row. He is definitely a treat to watch even though his team is not.

Taking a look back at the short history of Oilers and the Knights; The Oilers have not been a good team the last two years but they have gotten the better of the Knights. The Oilers won 3 out of 4 last year and this year they have split the season series so far. The Knights finally got their first win in Edmonton this year. These two teams over the course of 6 games have scored a total of 39 goals. Overall Edmonton has out scored the Knights 21-18.

The Oilers have an obvious X-Factor that helps them beat Vegas, and his name is Connor McDavid. McDavid has scored 4 goals, 6 assists and has a +3 advantage when playing Vegas. William Karlsson is no McDavid but he has the best individual record thus far. Karlie has 4 goals 1 assist and a +6 on the ice against the Oilers. As everyone should know by now Golden Knights hockey isn't about an individuals effort.

This season the Knights have been working on getting things evened up by outscoring the Oilers 7 to 5 over the last two games. The Oilers in these last two games against the Knights have blocked a total 45 shots. The Knights scored 4 goals in the game last season when they beat the Oilers and 6 in this seasons game. The Knights statistically should win this game out. Edmonton is ranked in the top ten WORST teams averaging only 2.79 goals per game and also letting in 3.24 goals per game. The Knights are averaging 2.97 goals per game and only allowing 2.75 goals per game over the course of the season. This makes the Oilers the 8th worst team in the league with negative .46 difference. Meaning that teams opposing the Oilers score about a half goal more than them when they play.

What I think will be key factors in this game and what the Knights should be looking to do. I will be looking for the Knights to hit that 4 goal mark at least to get past McDavid and the Oilers.

To do this Vegas will definitely have to look into getting quality shots being that Oilers have blocked more than 20 shots a game when then they have played this season. They don't want another Calgary incident where they had 18 blocked shots and 17 that missed the goal completely. The Knights have seemed to beat down the Oilers or lose with no middle ground yet in this short history.

Penalties have come at the most inopportune times for the Knights over the last two games, and this is a recipe for disaster against the Oilers. The last thing the Knights need is Connor McDavid having multiple power play chances; he is one of the best in the league and continues sprinting his way to greatness.

Finally the Vegas Golden Knights 2nd line. The Oilers have never had to play against Paul Stastny as a Golden Knight and they haven't felt the effects of the Stone age either. This line has been absolutely amazing. They are a complete 200 foot playing line.

FULL DRAFT FOR THE RAIDERS

The Raiders with the 4th overall pick drafted Clemson's DE Clelin Ferrell a player projected to be a middle first round pick. The Raider had the least amount of sacks in the league this last year. He is consisted a high character guy. He was red shirted his freshman year in college due to a torn ACL in high school. His 3 years in college he did not miss a game and had 27 sacks. Last year he tallied up 11.5 sacks during the National Championship run for Clemson. This may not be what Raiders fans want at the number 4 pick BUT this may be what the Raiders need a good piece to help with sacks and a high character guy to collect the big pay check for a high first round pick. He shows no quit and has a good work ethic in college and a strong family with a military background. This type of behavior can be a contagious for a locker room in the NFL. He was number #2 on the Raiders draft board 2nd to only Nick Bosa. The Raiders with the 24th pick select running back Josh Jacobs form...

GAME 7 END GAME FOR THE KNIGHTS

Game 7 was a faceoff between the Knights and the Sharks that solidified a rivalry that's been building.  The Knights started out a minute 58 into the game with a Colin Miller hooking call to put the Sharks on a early power play. The Knights PK held the Sharks to no shots. 19 seconds after the Knights came through on the PK McNabb was called for a weak crosscheck to put the Sharks right back on the power play. The Knight's PK and MAF came through in a team effort to kill off the penalty. With just over 10minutes into the 1st William Karlsson scored the first goal on a nice little chip-in goal assisted by Reilly Smith and Marchessault. The Knights went on their first PP of the game but momentum was cut short by Tuch with an interference on Braun. It was weak call as Tuch was getting back on sides a barely bumped Braun. The Sharks took their time with the puck on the 4 on 4 to get to their power play. The Knights PK came through again. The Period ended 1-0 Knights. The sec...
