Knight came into the game looking to snap their worst losing streak in franchise history with 5 in a row. Paul Stastny and Dyerk Engelland were both scratched for the night and Subban in net. The Oilers had the upper hand in last year's series. The Knights were 1-2-1 last season against the Oilers. Edmondon out scored the Knights 15-11. This season, the Knights have turned the corner against the Oilers winning 2 out of 3 and out scoring the Oilers 13-8 . It has been a pretty even series against McDavid and company. The first period both teams looked even except for a lone goal with 4 minutes and 33 seconds left in the period. Cody Eakin continued to add to his career high season with his 22nd goal assisted by Brandon Pirri and Alex Tuch. The Knights forecheck continues to standout as the Knights would have 6 to the Oilers 3.
The Knights wasted no time starting up the 2nd with a takeaway in the defensive zone by Jonathan Marchessault that led to his 25th goal of the year 51 seconds into the period. Just over 3 minutes later, assisted by Zack Kassian and Leon Draisaitl Connor McDavid registered his 41st goal of the season tying his career high and racking up his 115th point of the season. The Knights had 16 shots on goal in the period holding the Oilers to 5. The Knights got some real good looks on goal but the Oilers would also get in the way racking 9 blocked shots. The Oilers stepped it up even more with 8 takeaways and only 1 giveaway. The Knights had 6 takeaways but have 4 giveaways in the period. The Knights kept the lead on the scoreboard and shots on goal but the Oilers stepped things up with play on the ice.
The 3rd wouldn't be much. The game ended with an short handed empty netter from Pierre-Edouard Bellemare assisted by McNabb and Karlsson. The Oilers stayed consistent with the other teams that have beat the Knights with 18 blocked shots. In the 3rd, the Oilers game slowed down with only 3 takeaways in the period and 4 giveaways. The oilers would only get 19 shots on goal with a game tying goal catching the post and sliding through the back of the crease. The Knights claim their 93rd point and snapped a 5 game slide while gaining on the Central Conference. The Knights will faceoff against the Coyotes in their last home game on Thursday night at 7pm. The Golden Knights will give out team awards directly following the game. The Yotes will be looking to spoil the award show as they are 2 points back from tying things up with the Avs for the final wildcard spot.
